. There have been so many empty promises this year from them that it almost seems like they may as well just steal an old Integra and drop a B18 in. At least that way, VTEC will kick in, yo, and they might make it to the end of more races.

the first half of the year is exactly what one should expect from Mclaren-Honda given
1) the complex nature of the powertrain
2) how far removed Honda was from F1 (6 years), and doing it all basically from scratch
3) lack of testing due to FIA restrictions

But will that even fit in my Honda (F1 car)?

The powertrains are complex, there aren’t opportunities for
team
testing, and Honda’s been out for years, yes, but they also had a year to evaluate the designs of the other manufacturers to determine what works, they’ve had access to the Mercedes data through McLaren, and they could have been running one in any type of car around Suzuka 24 hours per day to evaluate it. Ferrari dropped their V6 in an Enzo for testing around Fiorano when they were rebuilding, and there’s nothing stopping Honda from doing similar. I wasn’t expecting them to be winning or competitive off the bat, but I wasn’t expecting them to continue looking almost like a backmarker team by the summer break.
